Date: 26 NOV 2011 | Contest: So, for this prize challenge, lets see if you can do better! We want to to re-write the Gettysburg Address but must start your entry the same as Lincoln: "Four Score and Seven Years Ago" (or depending on what you are addressing. It can be anything. It can be about WW2, a Civil War in your country, the current Iraq/Afganistan wars, the econimic instability, important events. ANYTHING you want. |
| Prize: Oblivion: GOTY Edition | ||
| Winner: Cardboardtheory | ||
| Winning Entry: Three score and 6 years ago, a small plane carried a payload. This plane flew over Hiroshima and dropped its payload, a single bomb. The world had originally laughed at the idea-how novel! A bomb that could destroy an entire city! But the bomb consisted of atoms and molecules, combined in a way so that it would reach optimum destructibility. It had no thought for the men, women, children that it destroyed. It had no discrimination between bricks or flesh. It had no idea about the poison that would plague this city for years to come. And it did not have a thought for what the world thought of it. Now, China, Russia, and the United States all have these “bombs”, except perfected and able to kill more than ever before. And the United States has spent trillions of dollars on killing machines, while homeless sleep in the streets. So that Americans can boast that their country can destroy the world many times over. Suppose a Chinese bomb lands in Seattle, or Los Angeles, or Washington. Or Beijing, Nanjing, or Shanghai. Or Moscow, Saint Petersburg. What will the world think of that? |

Date: 11 SEP 2011 | Contest: If you had 10 Million dollars that you wished to give away to help after 9/11 who would had received the contribution? What would you consider more important after 9/11? Would you give it to the government to help it's econonomy through its tough road ahead, it's victim's or revenge against those who attacked us? Or do you have any "outside the box" agenda's that you would think the money would be well served? |
| Prize: The Kings Crusade | ||
| Winner: Squire Zed | ||
| Winning Entry: With 10 million dollars, I would invest in drone recon for infantry and special operations strikes. Operating in the dark is dangerous, but expanding our intelligence network is beneficial. In addition, I would seek to make these drones re-assignable based on missions so that they wouldn't be tied to one group, leading to inefficiency. These drones would scout out villages before troops went on sweeps and look for suspicious vehicles (i.e. abandoned trucks with I.E.D.s, trucks with mounted guns) in order to prevent ambushes or attacks on infantrymen. These drones would (probably for cost reasons) be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AeroVironment_Wasp_III/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RQ-11_Raven light recon drones like the models listed. While not armed, these drones enable forces to see what the situation is where they are going, which can be essential to having a safe operation. |

Date: 05 AUG 2011 | Contest: What do you think would be the ultimate military funeral to truly give full respect and honors to the fallen hero? You can focus on the funeral itself, the days leading up to it, after it and even before the body is returned stateside. Use your imaginations. The best idea wins this challenge. Good luck guys and gals! |
| Prize: Doom III | ||
| Winner: Ashton93 | ||
| Winning Entry: I remember Harry Patch's funeral. First of all, the soldier should have his wishes granted when it comes to the funeral. For example if he doesent want alot of publicity about it, he shall not get it, its as simple as that. All dead/dying people should have their wishes granted. In Harry Patch's case, he didnt want soldiers with ceremonial weapons. Second of all, people must show respect. I've seen enough of people hating the army/military and those are people who shouldnt be allowed to be there. All people should be able to show their respect and show up at the funeral (not if the dead doesent want to, as explained above). In Harry Patch's funeral, over 1000 people showed up. And there should be military traditions, such as flagfolding, Taps, and maybe a platoon march. |

Date: 31 JUL 2011 | Contest: What actions in combat do you think should be the minimum to receive the Medal of Honor. Whoever suggests something worthy of the medal but not as incredible as say John Basilone on Okinowa you will become the winner after votes are in! |
| Prize: Dino DDay | ||
| Winner: Cardboardtheory | ||
| Winning Entry: I believe a minimum is not being afraid to die, for the sake of others. As Switz said, self sacrifice, but I believe that since many MoH recipients were rewarded posthumously, it requires more self sacrifice to the point of life and death. I don't mean throwing yourself meaninglessly in to enemy fire or anything like that. I believe the minimum is also that you have to risk your life for others, just dying isn't going to cut it. |

Date: 11 JUN 2011 | Contest: So, for this month's community challenge, whoever has the best idea of what a War on Terror Memorial site should look like if one was ever built will win the grand prize and have the game gifted to their account! |
| Prize: Terraria | ||
| Winner: Jigsore | ||
| Winning Entry: Ok, so my idea is a mural of major terrorist attacks including the Munich Massacre, the Oklahoma City bombing, 9/11 (those are what I can think of off the top of my head) arranged in chronological order. The mural would be painted in a circle, because the War on Terror isn't over and a circle doesn't have an end, so it's some sort of metaphorical thing. And at the top of this circular/pedestal thing would be an eternal flame, like the one on JFK's grave, obviously for the remembrance of the victims of terrorism. | ||
