Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, OVSM
History
The OVSM recognizes those members of the military (active duty, reserve and national guard) who perform substantial volunteer service to the local community above and beyond the duties required as a member of the United States Armed Forces.
Prerequisites
The issuing of a OVSM can be awarded by any Marine who is a part of the command staff to award a Marine for going above and beyond his peers to execute a direct order, improve public image, help someone else or for habitual displays of volunteering and giving his time that supersedes warranting a Letter of Commendation.

Armed Forces Service Medal, AFSM
History
The Armed Forces Service Medal (AFSM) is a military award of the United States military which was created on January 11, 1996 by President Bill Clinton. The medal is a theater service award which is presented to those service members who engage in "significant activity" for which no other campaign or service medal is authorized.
Prerequisites
The Armed Forces Service Medal shall be awarded to a Marine upon entering the non-commissioned officer ranks (Corporal or higher).

National Defense Service Medal, NDSM
History
The National Defense Service Medal was established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953. The medal was first intended to be a "blanket campaign medal" awarded to service members who served honorably during a period the country was at war.

Currently, the National Defense Service Medal is the oldest "service medal" in use by the United States Armed Forces.
Prerequisites
The National Defense Service Medal (Also known as the "CNN" Ribbon because it is awarded to anybody who enlists) is issued to a Marine upon reaching six months of active duty after their graduation date from Recruit Training.

Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, MCEM
History
The Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal is a military award of the USMC which was established on 8 May 1919. To be awarded the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, personnel must have engaged in a landing on foreign territory, participated in combat operations against an opposing force, or must have participated in a designated operation for which no other service medal is authorized

Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, GCM
History
The Good Conduct Medal is one of the oldest military awards of the United States Armed Forces. The U.S. Navy's variant of the Good Conduct Medal was established in 1869, the Marine Corps version in 1896. The medal is awarded to any active-duty enlisted member of the United States military who completes three consecutive years of "honorable and faithful service".
Prerequisites
The Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, "Good Cookie" shall be awarded to a Marine every four months after their graduation day from Recruit Training.

Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, NAM
History
The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (NAM) is a military decoration of the United States Armed Forces. The Achievement Medal was created as a means to recognize the contributions of junior officers and enlisted personnel who were not eligible to receive the higher Commendation Medal or the Meritorious Service Medal.
Prerequisites
The Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal shall be awarded to a Marine for unparalleled acts of devotion above a OVSM and is the highest meritorious award offered.

Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, N&MCM
History
The Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal is a mid-level United States military decoration which is presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service.
Prerequisites
The Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal shall be awarded to a Marine who has contributed financially to the unit through donations an accumulated amount of $25 or more.

Meritorious Service Medal, MSM
History
The Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) is a military award presented to members of the United States Armed Forces who distinguished themselves by outstanding meritorious achievement or service to the United States subsequent to January 16, 1969.
Prerequisites
The Meritorious Service Medal shall be awarded to Marines who distinguished themselves by outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement or service. Award of this medal indicates the awardee has performed in a position of significant responsibility over a sustained period of time without any cases of delay or job abandonment.

Purple Heart, PH
History
The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those wounded or killed while serving, on or after April 5, 1917, with the U.S. military.
Prerequisites
The Purple Heart is issued during a official or scrimmage match in which only a small handful or single Marine performs a clutch scenario against overwhelming odds.

Navy & Marine Corps Medal, MCM
History
The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the highest non-combat decoration awarded for heroism by the United States Department of the Navy to the members of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. The decoration was established by an act of Congress on 7 August 1942.
Prerequisites
The Navy & Marine Corps Medal is awarded for every year from the date of a Marines graduation from Boot Camp.

Legion of Merit, LOM
History
The Legion of Merit (LOM) is a military award of the United States Armed Forces that is given for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements during combat.

Defense Distinguished Service Medal, DSM
History
The Defense Distinguished Service Medal is a United States military award which is presented for exceptionally distinguished performance of duty contributing to National security or defense of the United States. The medal was created on July 9, 1970 by President Richard Nixon.
Prerequisites
The Defense Distinguished Service Medal is awarded to the Marine who is named "Marine of the Quarter" (MOTQ) by company command.

Medal of Honor, MOH
History
The Medal of Honor is the United States of America's highest military honor, awarded for personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty. The medal is awarded by the President of the United States in the name of the U.S. Congress to U.S. military personnel only.
Prerequisites
The Medal of Honor is awarded on the unfortunate occasion a Marine has left us too early. It is a small gesture of our condolences to award our highest honor to this Marine.
